TBAY Travels to the University of Texas for New Years Competition

This past weekend TBAY Central along with four other TBAY branches took 60 swimmers and coaches to Austin, TX to compete in the 2013 Longhorn Aquatics New Years Invitational.  This is the first time our team has taken such a large group and it was a huge success!

We started off early Thursday morning and landed in Austin, TX in time for a short warm-up at the pool before heading to dinner.  Above is a picture of the team at warm-up along with some pictures of the amazing facility (below) that is arguably one of the best in the United States.

Competition started Friday morning and went through Sunday night.  Top 16 finishers in each event qualified to swim in the finals session held each night.  Below is a recap of some of the top swims from our branch:

At every session swimmers did an outstanding job of not only swimming well, but also showing team spirit and camaraderie.  This was a great meet for our swimmers to get to know their teammates better as well as build experience in their swimming.  We really look forward to continuing this tradition in 2014!!
